Iranian Americans are people of Iranian (Persian) heritage who live and work in the United States. They are considered the most successful immigrant groups in the history of the United States, Iranian-Americans have thrived not only in careers such as medicine, science and engineering, law, business, and academia, but also in the arts, music, theater and the humanities. The U.S. population is estimated at over 1,000,000 with 60% living in Southern California. Mostly migrated in early 80's,upper middle class and technocrats. In Southern California, the concentration is in Los Angles, Orange, and San Fernando Counties.
Founded in 1986, the Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County (NIPOC) is a non-political, and non-profit 501 (c)(3) educational organization. It is composed of professionals, business and community activists, students, volunteers, and leaders who live and work in Southern California. NIPOC is dedicated to promote the networking among Iranian-Americans so that we become a more cohesive and civically active community.
Our goal is to educate the public on rich Persian cultural heritage and promote the achievements and contributions of the Iranian-American community. We do this through public events, cultural activities, lectures, seminars, workshops, awards and scholarships to young people and volunteers. NIPOC offers a unique opportunity for professional men and women to network and exchange ideas with peers and business associates in a safe environment. Our hope is to build bridges of friendships with other diverse communities.
